** FAQ:: Rev Hang DBW Bog Reflash Update Revhang Rev-hang HDS bogging
Okay, since this question gets asked at least once a week lets post all of our USEFUL Rev-Hang information here...
My contribution::
Service bulletin is 06-052 , your car must fall within the VIN range (.......6H700001- ......6H707606), if its after the range your ECU has already been "reflashed" from the factory so you have NOTHING to worry about. Your CEL doesnt have to be on, and most likely wont be on even if you need the reflash.
Defect code is 03217
Symptom code is 09114
Its a simple update performed via the HDS tablet and takes about 10 mintues to complete
Many people out of the VIN range still think they need it but they dont. You may experience similar symptoms with revhang/bucking but give the ECU some time to learn your driving and it will all smooth out. The first gear bucking complaint is only an issue if the car is started cold and driven right away. The ECU is trying to keep the rev's high to get the car to normal operating temp ASAP to avoid damage... completley normal tho. also any drive by wire setup has some sort of revhang/lag, again nothing to be concerned about

Please feel free to add anything you think is helpful or correct any misinformation I have posted.

I have a friend that is a tech at a local dealership and we reflashed mine at his dealership LAST NIGHT. There REALLY IS an update. I watched it, it's a new version number, and it actually says it fixes the hang, etc.
I don't know if you guys are just asking, or if the dealers are actually checking, but after connecting the HDS to my car, my friend found the update and applied it.

First off, DO NOT talk to anyone other than a technician.
The upgrade is for their HDS board not our ECU
I watched him look up on the Honda intranet and read that the upgrade disc was mailed to all dealers the week of July 10th. They ALL have the disc. They may not have installed it yet but they have it
Ask them what version they are running
It should be 2004.005.04
The software allows the HDS to read the ECU for the 07 Accord and 07 Civic(all except the GX and Hybrid
If they have the correct software, talk them into running a diagnostic on your ECU. The update will then show up on the HDS and you can receive the "upgrade" The software for the 07 models has the throttle hang fixed, All that is happening is your ECU is being reflashed to 07 specs
Unfortunately the dealer I went to was running the one that was sent out in December...there have been 3 upgrades since. The tech said he will install the software before my upcoming appt. SO the latest I can have it is the 17th....I'm going to start searching over since I now know how to explain this and get some answers
I went to White Plains Honda

I can actually blip the throttle and get an immediate response rather than having to hold the pedal to make up for the hesitation. This makes for great downshifting and throttle response. First gear hesitation is also gone. Between shifts there is still a slight hang but nothing like it was.
All in all, im happy with it, it actually feels like i have control of the throttle now and i dont have to anticipate actions to make up for excessive hesitation. This makes for a much better driving experience and one less thing i have to complain about. Now, if i could get them to put on a thicker coat of paint.
here is what the tech put on my service paper.

here is proof of the fix

this screen was also shown on the hds. we tried using the direct connection with the pc but it wouldnt work. the hds searches for updates then you have to download the updates off the honda net. it is then plugged back into the car and the ecu is updated!

Are you sure the VIN range is correct? My vehicle falls between those numbers and I contacted the dealership and they said that I don't need the reflash or "nothing is coming up for that vehicle". Maybe they're doing something wrong. I don't know. What should I do? I definitely have alot of hang and lagging response.

My dealer told me my VIN didn't fall within the range and they wouldn't fix it and I had to come back with that and make them eat their hats. Word.

i actually went to the dealer this morning to get another oil change and told em to check my transmission and do the reflash. didnt do the reflash, did change the oil, and "couldnt find anything wrong" with the tranny. so that sucked.

Called the dealership this morning and set up an appointment for tomorrow. Apparently they finally got the update info. Hopefully everything turns out good! Thanx for the info.
thank you for this, its been pissing me off for far too long. i'm going to set up an appointment as soon as possible
Im here at the honda dealership now and they're trying to tell me that they can't pull up any service bulletin regarding this reflash upgrade. Im positive my vehicle is in the VIN range and I physically had to show him the bulletin my self because they only had one coming up for my vehicle and that was for the OBDS or something like that. So now they're gonna "try and get this done" for me, but I don't know what the hell is going on. Maybe they didn't get the software yet or something. Any ideas people???
its impossible they don't have it
deal with a manager and if they can't get it for your
tell them your calling honda corp & a regional manager due to them being moronic and shouldn't be working on cars.

okay now i'm getting mad. They're telling me now that "all the current information is already there" even though Im experiencing the symptoms stated in the bulletin 06-052. Either these guys are morons and don't know what they're doing, or I need to go to another dealership and call corporate. What the f*ck is going on? Why would the update be in the vehicle's system if there's a service bulletin out???

Does your car fall in this vin range :
Service bulletin is 06-052 , your car must fall within the VIN range
(.......6H700001-6H707606),

The service department MUST have the most current version of software on their HDS tablet... Any competent dept will have it up-to-date, and if that's the case, and they plug your car in and it doesn't call for any updates there's not much they can do.
No need to get all huffy -puffy about it... some cars just come with the most updated software FROM THE FACTORY

Oh well that settles it then. I was under the impression that ALL Si's between that VIN range needed the upgrade. Since my car already has it then I guess that's all I can do. Probably just get a cable throttle conversion later on down the road anyway.
Maybe you misuderstood or I did a shitty job of explaining, but either way if your car does fall within that VIN range it will need the update. Any car that does NOT fall within the VIN range does not need to be updated as it comes with the newest software from the factory.
Well I understood the thread perfectly. But I think i'm getting the runaround from the dealer. I took it in and they said the updated software was already in the vehicle. Strange. My vehicle is in the VIN range. Maybe I should call another dealer. I dunno. Or maybe I just got lucky with my car.
I went to the stealership, today. Those ******* didn't know what I was talking about. Good thing I had the service bulletin number. They checked it out and plugged the HDS into my ride and they said it wouldn't upload into the ECU. I am not too sure about that , I hate going to the dealers!
then I tried telling them my car needed an alignment, but expletive that I am going to get it done!!!!

I called up my dealership, and they said mine doesn't fall under the vin range...
711xxx is the last 6 of my VIN.
I still experience Rev Hang....I don't mind it that much, but I guess I'd rather not have it. I'm told it's not good for spirited driving
any ideas?

Your dealership is correct.
Did you actually read any of the information posted or just look at all of the pictures?
From your past posts it seems like you should be more focused on learning how to perform any sort of "spirited" driving before you concern yourself with a small rev hang.
