# stainless for flange

Default # stainless for flange

is 304 ss any good for an exhaust flange?

sure. I wouldn't use it for any flange on a turbo manifold, because it expands much more than mild. however on an exhaust, it'd be fine.

ive seen turbo manifolds from 304 and done fine 800+++ hp

I am a fan of using Mild steel for all flanges.

yeah i think it would be fine ive seen the flange tubing and collector made of 304 SS so i dont see why not.

Mild steel.

I've seen stainless flanges rip studs right out of the head due to expansion. Save your money and just get 1/2" mild flanges. The tubing can of course be stainless.

I had one waterjet'ed from 304 3/8" 4 my 2.3 focus
