need HELP!! with integra front hub
Hey everyone, two of the studs on my passanger side hub broke off when I was trying to remove my wheel. I wanted to replace them myself and I wanted to know if their is a way I can do that. I rented a hub puller but it didn't make sence when I strted to use it. If their is anyone that has pix on how to remove the front hub post them please and also if its posible, step by step on how to remove the hub. Thanx
you dont need to remove the front hub. Pull the rotor off, and bang out whats left of the studs. place the new stud in from behind. Either get some washer, or some people use the rotor its self as a spacer, and 'pull' the new stud in with the lug nut. You need a spacer of some sort because you will not fully seat the new stud against the hub with the lug nut alone.

did you get a slide hammer with the hub puller?
did you get a slide hammer with the hub puller?
Its because I tried banging it out with the hammer and it seamed to have gotten stuck where the hub goes into...I went to autozone and they told me that I need to take the hub out...because the hub housing is in the way...if it was a matter of hammering it out...I would of been done with my car...but that's not the case...and the only tool I rented out from autozone was the hub puller I thought that is all that I needed. But that does not seam to work
By the way its a 96 integra I'm not sure if that makes a difference and the hub puller does not have have the hammer.

that is correct. the hub housing stops the stud from coming out all the way. so the hub needs to come off. you need to get the slide hammer also. it threads into the puller, and you slam the slider until the hub starts pulling out. the bearing case will come with it too so don't be alarmed. don't mess with the other half of the bearings. install is reverse of removal. there use to be a great write up on this, i just can't find it.
*don't forget to take off the axle nut!

you need to press the hub back into the knuckel. the stud WILL come out w/o remiving the hub, I know, i've done it. Lots of people have. A slide hammer will get the hub out, but you need a shop press to get it back in, a slide hammer, or any other tool other then a press wont do it PROPERLY.

removing a stud like this? not every one has the same size hub housing as you do.
and you don't have to have it pressed back in. lots of people, including myself, have slide hammered it back in. 3yrs later and its still there.

first off, I said, if you want it PROPERLY re-installed, it needs to be pressed in. 2nd, not everybody rocks extended wheel studs. Mine came out just fine on all the integra's I ever changed front studs on. I said that you COULDENT get it back in PROPERLY with a hammer, hell, you could ram it back in with a toaster, doesnt make it a good ******* idea

Hey brick top, did the old stud scrape that spot on the hub as you hammered it out, or did you grind down the hub to make room to remove/replace the stud?

i got this pic from elsewhere. they had grinded the area down to make room. but on my 96 ek, the stud hit the back hub. so i pulled the hub off. i wasn't about the grind my housing like that.
