Hydrolocked? i think
I was coming home from work about 5-10miles from home..its RAINY very heavily right now..and has been throughout the day..i tried avoiding puddles as much as possible(its very hard to see anything..i was also going SLOW!)..i may have hit a couple..i didnt notice anything different..until i got about a block from home when my car just shut off..
(im running a CAI)
is it possible the motor is gone?
i plan to let it sit for a day or so..
if it starts after drying out..what should i look for?

pull off your intake see if theres any water in there
if there is take out your spark plugs and try to crank the motor
unless your submerged your air filter under water you shouldnt have hydrolocked

To add to this do an oil change also.
If you are going to continue to run a CAI at least go by a by-pass filter, it could be the best $40 you will spend on you car. Other option is to run a SRI during winter.

thanks...bypass valves are like 60..im gunna just run an SRI for winter(i can get an aem for 40).. im hopeing my cars OK. and i just got an oil change like a week ago..should i still do another?
Take out the spark plugs.....letting water sit in the cylinders is going to allow them to rust (they rust about as fast as your brake rotors do in the rain). Take the plugs out, turn the engine over, then try to crank it.

I guess i was lucky..thanks everyone.. I had NO WATER at all in my engine..i had my head completely taken apart..no water in anything.. My intake was dry too.. im not sure why it stalled then lol
my teg used to do that same thing when the air filter got really wet....you just gotta wait 10 min, then it starts right back up...its cause the car is struggling for air i think
