how do I know if my evap sys works? will it cause high HC's and fail emissions?
I would like to know how to check my evaperator system.(if possible)
I recently failed emissions, I was over limit on CO
My HC was in limit but it is at 208ppm (last year it was 18ppm, this is buggin me)
I know emissions have been covered in other threads, I have read them
I would like to know if I am missing anything before I spend money on another test
I have checked timing(i retarded it 1-2degrees, now)
I replaced plugs (old ones were pretty carbonated)
I am running prem gas, (was running low grade)
oil change(w/ some lucas added)
tomorrow I will clean eacv, and put another o2 sensor on
do I need to even pay attention to the evap system?
On my car the only tests they run here is
putting the sniffer in the tailpipe and look at the gas cap.
Thanks to all

any advice
even a "why didnt you look here?" and a URL
I have never failed a smog test and love to brag about my amazing HC levels
do I have everything covered in my list above?
or should I add another item to check?
as far as the gas tank vapor system(what I mean by the "evaporator")
I could not find help in the archives here on in googling
how can I tell if it is nonfunctional?
and if it is bad will it raise HC's?
Thanks again all

should I ask a different question?
I am not getting responses and I have tried in 3 different threads.
I hate beeing one of those nags
I been on here a while and am not used to this level of non response
please give me some feedback, other than. stfu
waiting with baited breath and fumy exhaust

EVAP system is for airborn gas particles in your gas tank. It basically pressurizes your gas tank and then these gases are returned to the intake through a solenoid / pump when the pressure builds up to a set pressure. I don't know exactly how it works on honda, but this is in general how an evap system works.
in other words, i don't think it's important for your emissions test. Your HC ppm is too high, and that is because either your engine isnt burning all the gas, or your catalytic converter is faulty (assuming you have one).
CO is a byproduct of burning gas, and your catalytic converter converts it into water and some other gas, i dont remember exactly.
Ok so assuming your Catalytic converter is faulty, you need to figure out why it is faulty. I've seen cats die out after just one week of an engine running too rich, there was too much gas in the exhaust and the cat overheated and melted itself.
Good luck, hope i helped.

thank you
It looks like I mihr end up pulling my downpipe then
My cat looked pristine when I put my header on around a year ago.
But I guess if my o2 sesncor went bad and made it go rich .......grrrrrrrrr
