Default LS Budget Performance

I've got a 94 Integra RS and its bone stock.

What have people done for $800?

I was thinking...

For suspension: (used) GC coil-overs w/Koni Reds? Then some lighter wheels.
Reliability upgrades: AEM V2 intake, DCSports Header.

Thankful for all suggestions!

i installed crower 402's on my ls. cheapest upgrade you can do that'll give u the most gains. forget about the v2, its a load of crap, ive done all the bolt ons on my ls, and the best gains i got were from the crower cams.

also with the 402's, you dont need the titanium retainers and valve springs which cost as much as the cams do.

Im selling my 402's by the way. Im getting a gsr swap in a few weeks. If you want to buy my cams, ill sell them to you for cheap.

You mean Koni yellows? The koni yellow + gc coilover setup will run you a good 400+, wheels about 300, and an intake for about 100. You're set.

if you want to use those cams, i recommend using cam gears, i had mine set at +1,-1... It made good gains all throughout the power band, but more noticeable on the upper portion of the power band, especially cuz i had these on an ls. Best part is, no need for springs/retainers. You can simply just drop these in and youre good to go.

Probably more like a 825 setup. Koni's are roughly 500 shipped (every now and then someone sells them for a little less) and Ground Control Coilovers are around 325 shipped.

Even if you had $825, its not enough. Are you going to be installing this yourself, or paying someone? Also, a lot of the times, there is a seized bolt or bushing (usually one on the rear lower control arm) that might need replacing. And you also need to get an alignment afterwards. Some people also decide to get a camber kit for the front as well.

Thanks for the advice.

I'll be doing all the work myself... If I can't do it, someone local from HT can help me.

Ye, I meant Koni Yellows. I heard they are great. Sadly, new theyre not in my price range. I still want a good setup for autox in the spring.

Should I be buying everything new?

Crowers sound great, I just don't want to be doing internals on a 157k engine.

Honestly, you should go out and auto-x, stock. Learn you car first and its limits. Also, when upgrading your car it will probably change your classing. Therefore, probably making you less competitive.

with 800 i wouldnt touch my motor..

id use the $800 and buy things to put towards the handling of the car.

sway bar, strut bars, pillar bar, coil overs, shocks etc.

For used i've seen it personally go for around 450-500. I've been looking for the best prices and trust me i've seen new koni yellows go for 400 and gc coilovers for 200 new. So it's definitely not 700+ but maybe around there.

best bang for your buck is a b16 tranny, shorter gearing is your best friend. And will net you better gains than any bolt ons

as much gas as i can get right

ye, ls blocks are def cheap (ive seem some go $100) and going ls/vtec is always an option. maybe ill buy a block now, buy a b16 head... build the motor in my basement and put it in when its all ready. just an idea... ive heard they can be unreliable and tuning can be a problem as it isnt a factory engine.

^^^this is it's worth the money if you want to go faster, want to stay all motor and only have $800.

at the end it depends on what you want to do with the car. if i had a ls, i would get either the b16 tranny or a nice suspension set-up. depends on what kind of used deals i could find.
