CEL help
Just posted this in the Tech/Misc...
Here's my problem. Went to do some datalogging last night so that i could make adjustments to fuel with my VAFC. Added fuel from 6000 to 8000 to keep the car at high 13's AFR. Once I accelerated CEL came on and car went into limp mode. I turned it off and started back up fine with no CEL or problems. I turned the VAFC correction mode off and the car runs fine under acceleration. Only it runs too lean 15's AFR. I need to check my fuel pump also because I have noticed that it will start to whine louder than normal and I mean much louder, but if I turn the car off and start it back up the pump goes back to its normal humming. I tried checking the code but it flashed so many at once I couldnt tell when one code ended and the other began. I have reset my ECU but havent thrown a CEL again so I could check it.
I dont know if it is my fuel pump or the VAFC that is causing this problem. I suspect the pump because of the noise but I also suspect the VAFC because when no corrections in fuel are made the car doesnt throw a code, then again this could be pointed back to the pump.
I am just wondering if anyone has experienced this before?
Thx

blah to VAFC.
if your pump was failing, you would most likely see it in the a/f log. and you are saying that the stock ECU is showing a/f ratios in the 15s in VTEC above 6000RPM at wide open throttle? I havent checked a stock a/f chart in a long time but that doesnt sound right. IIRC stock ECU is pig rich on the top end. Makes me think your wideband (assuming thats what you are using) may be wearing out.
there is a long pause between codes, thats how you know when the next code is going to come up (or it will just repeat the code if there is only one code)
Edit: did some searching, found this info:
stock vs kenji chip vs IH8RICERZ chip
#2--stock ecu
#3--IH8RICERZ chip
#4--kenji chip
as you can see, all are WAY below 15 a/f in VTEC range.

That is your problem. You can not add fuel with the VAFC. It will do it but it freaks out the ECU-when you do you are basically telling the ECU that you are in boost. If you absolutely want to run the VAFC get an adjustable FPR or bigger injectors, then take fuel out with the VAFC. Personally, I recommend Hondata.

ok so I got some time and checked the CEL it was code 3..MAP sensor. It doesnt do it all the time only sometimes at WOT and goes into limp mode. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by b19coupe »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

I have an AEM FPR and I had bigger injectors but they were way too rich and was worried about atomizing.

My wideband is brand new
Changed the fuel filter and swapped out the fuel pump for new. Still threw code 3. I think i may need a new MAP sensor or at least a good cleaning. This is all really annoying since I just got my NOS kit hooked up and dont want to spray until I sort this matter out!
Thanks for the input guys i think Hondata will be my xmas present to myself

The VAFC intercepts the MAP sensor signal and alters it. Nothing wrong with your MAP sensor.
