friday- i knew i smelt antifreeze, but i couldnt find a leak, so i filled up the resevior...
during the weekend, noticed the resevior is low.

the incredible hulk pee'd on your engine.

I'm not 100% sure if it needs to be replaced, or if it could be a gasket. How many miles are on your caR? might be time to do water pump and timing belt *shrug*
about 133000 right now.
when i bought the car with 117000 the owner said timing belt has been changed, but he wasnt sure about water pump.
i figured i would go ahead and changed it all... water pump, and timing belt and whatever else is around there that needs to be changed.
but i need to get that plastic cover off and check and see where it is exactly coming from. most likely bomba de agua. or however you say it in spanish

It is definately the water pump. nothing else would be leaking behind the timing belt cover because there is no other coolant pipes or anything besides the water pump. For sure do the belt so you know its done. Make sure you lock the cams when at TDC ( white mark aligned with the pointer)

As a side note, it looks like you have the green stuff as opposed to the red stuff. I would find out if it is ok to mix them or if the green stuff is ok for your seals. You may want to flush out the entire cooling system and go back to the red stuff. I do not know if it matters but if it was my car I would do it. It would suck to do all of that work and then find out the green stuff caused your pump seal to go out and start leaking again. Just my two cents......
thanks or the advice. i will look into it.
IIRC it has had the green stuff in it ever since i bought it. it may be the reason, or it may just be high miles.
but i dont know how common leaky gaskets are. ill check at work

So you did the timing belt and water pump again at 117k miles? and now it's leaking again at 133k ? ... weird.
Water pumps have weep holes that intentionally leak when it's overdue for replacement. While your changing the pump change the timing belt (your right there anyway and you'll have peace of mind). I have done plenty of these and they are really easy. I could have it done in around an hours time if I busted my ***. As for coolant DO NOT USE Dex-cool (red coolant) you should be using the green stuff. As a matter of fact I strongly recommend Honda coolant, it's actually really good coolant.

nah, i never did the job. the previous owner told me the timing belt has been replaced, but he didnt know about the water pump, which i find kind of odd..
so it wasnt that big of a suprise to me that it needs changing

I think you may have owned too many GM's...Honda never used red. Was always green and now since about 04 all Honda's use blue coolant.
maybe I have owned too many but when I rebuilt my ITR I used Honda fluids and remember it being red. Oh well I would recommend using OEM parts including pump, timing belt and coolant. I think you will have better success with it. Good Luck

sounds good. i was thinking about worldpac for the parts.
but i dont think the prices would be any different.
