Default What parts do I need for a auto to manual tranny change.

I have an automatic 96 hatch and I want to make it manual. What do I need to do?

Manual tranny, clutch lines, clutch pedal OR manual petal setup (I say go w/ a single clutch pedal b/c u have a bigger brake (the automatic brake) pedal plus you can put the clutch wherever you damn well please), shift linkage, shifter, and manual ECU. Clutch MC and SC if they're with the clutch lines.

search around. theres been a couple people who have done this, and i think there are writeups.

i dont think you can use the auto pedal assembly, you have to use the assembly off of a manual car.

if you are mechanically inclined at all, you can do it. just go to a junk yard and pillage everything off of a manual car. its really not much harder than a regular motor swap, only difference is you just swap the pedals. oh yea, you will need a new tranny mount.

but on the plus side, the car already has the provision for a clutch master cylinder, its just spot-welded shut

I have a Midori Green 96 hatch but its automatic. I love the color so I wont sell the car. The color is pretty rare so I just want to convert it to manual but if its gonna be that hard and you need that many parts I dont think its worth it. Everybody tells me to convert it, but its easier said than done.

because we all know how easy it is to find a good condition hatch, right

if you really dont think you are up to it, then i suggest going that route. but with the help of hondatech and possibly a friend, you could probably do it over a weekend.

But I have invested a lot in my car and its slow as crap! Courtesy of the stock D16. Nobody will buy a automatic hatch. It only has 100k miles on it and its dropped on eibach springs. If I sell i will never find a midori green hatch again.

i know it seems like a lot of work, but once you get to it and have everything out, it gets alot easier. just do your research beforehand, while you peice together the parts for the swap, then just psyche yourself up and get to it.

you could even do just a tranny swap in your stock d16, ride that for a while, while you save up for the swap

then you have the hard part out of the way, then you just gotta drop the new motor in
