Default California Legal B20 swap

I have a 98 Hatchback. Thinking about swapping in the B20Z and no plans for a VTEC. Maybe a VTEC head, but i'll get some VTEC killer cams. I'm located in California and was wondering if it's legal to have the B20 with a different transmission like the ITR or GSR? I've heard its not legal in CA to have a different head (LS/VTEC, CRV/VTEC) just wondering if it applies to transmissions also. Thanks

I'm not too familiar with CA laws but I think it only applies to the engine, ecu, emissions equipment, etc. I don't see why having a different transmission would cause you not to have a legal setup.

Yea that's what i'm thinking to. I just want to make sure before I go with the b20 route because I don't want to have a illegal engine and have to pull it out later on.

having a different bseries tranny on any motor(b series of any sort) does not matter to c.a.r.b.
