Default Sedan vs Hatch Weight & Space difference?

always liked the EF sedan.. now that ive got my ZC hatch i may think about keeping an eye out for a clean sedan to drop the ZC into and play with. so how much more does a sedan weigh than a hatch and also is there much more room in a sedan than in a hatch?

just an idea ive been tossing around

i would argue that the hatch has more USABLE space than a sedan, i.e. large boxes & stuff

......but the 4dr is gangster

The EF Sedan's are as light or almost as light as some EG/EK hatch's. 2300-2400lbs or so depending on the trim level, so as far weight, it's not a big disadvantage. I've always preferred the aforementioned "usuable space" of the hatchback though.

yato me the sedan is like taking a hatch back and pushing back the back window to make a trunk.. so its almost the same amount of metal and such.. if that makes any sense to people. sedans seem to be getting popular.

not exactly. i'm taking the figures and sorting them by the lightest sedan, and heaviest hatchback. i didnt even take into account, the heavier sedans or lighter hatchbacks.

1988 Honda Civic DX SDN MT 2039
1988 Honda Civic DX HB MT 1993
difference: 46 lbs. in favor of the hatchback

1989 Honda Civic DX SDN MT 2147
1989 Honda Civic Si HB MT 2161
difference: 14 lbs. in favor of the sedan. (keep in mind the Si's have sunroofs)

1990 Honda Civic DX SDN MT 2262
1990 Honda Civic Si HB MT 2291
difference: 29 lbs. in favor of the sedan. (keep in mind the Si's have sunroofs)

1991 Honda Civic DX SDN MT 2262
1991 Honda Civic Si HB MT 2291
difference: 29 lbs. in favor of the sedan. (keep in mind the Si's have sunroofs)

I've got a zc in a 90 lx sedan. I love it.

The car is alot of fun, i also own a hatch. The hatch is stock though so obviously i like the sedan more. But with that said, it's still worth the swap.

Sedan FTW!

So those weights are pretty accurate huh?

Had a guy try to tell me his 91 Civic hb dx with an a6 swap was "close to 300 lbs heavier" than my 90 crx si.

i had a hatchback and have a four door now.
i think that a four door has more "people" room
and the hatchback has more "box" room as stated

but in the end its about the same but hatches are sexier
