Debate this: Which motor will make more power....
Both engines receive 9:1 compression with endyn pistons and eagle rods
stock head-no p&p, no bigger cams, only skunk2 Intake Mani. and 68mm TB can be added
Both engines receive the same size intercooler, the same wastegate, and the same T3/T4 60 trim. The same size injectors.
Everything is the same in the engine except for displacement.
B16 or B20(non vtec)
Either would use a gsr tranny and would be thrown in an EG hatch.
Which would make more power? Which would be faster?
I'm curious because the b20 has the obvious torque, but it won't rev as high as the b16. However, the b16 will lack down low but will be able to stay in boost longer.
So what do you think? My guess is the b20.

here's something else I was thinking of. Now it's kinda like my "ricer logic", but since both engines are built to be stronger, they should both be able to rev pretty high. Should the b20 be able to handle 8500 with new rods, or would it take more to see revs that high, say a block girdle.
Im saying more than just rods for the b20, if honda didnt want it to rev high, I dont they would make it able to be with just one mod. But then it is a honda so maybe truth will tell.
b16`s are for girls
If you are going to build the b20, why not spend a few extra bucks and slap the vtec head on?
Or, if you are going to build a b16, why not bore and sleeve it?

interesting. i have already gone thru 2 built b16 engines. the problem i have with them is in order to make decent power, you have to run a turbo that's so big it kills what little power the engine has down low. it's a different story if we're talking about a race only setup that will never see below 6-7000 rpm. as far as the b20 goes... not my favorite engine. nah nah. are these your only 2 options???
