Redline Time Attack - Buttonwillow Raceway CW13 S2000's take 2nd in modified/street RWD Class
Hey guys, me and my buddy, Maxrev, just came back from a time attack this past sunday. We both did well considering the type of competition we were up against. The time attack event is divided into three classes. Basically, what determines what class you are in is the type of tire you choose to run. For unlimited class, anything goes (engine, tires, race car, etc.. you name it). Modified class requires a treadwear of 100 or higher (toyo RA1 or nitto nt01). Street class is a treadwear of 200 or higher (street tires). Although the rules aren't really fair, i still like these events and believe this is the right direction for motorsports in america. I'm not too much of a fan of drag racing!
Anyhow, we both managed to get 2nd place both in modified/street RWD classes.
Maxrev's time in modified class: 1:58.351
My time in street class: 2:04.443

How are the Tein src's holding up?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Thanks. The Tein SRC's are holding up great after a year of tracking abuse
. I definitely recommend these for someone that has some track experience and wants to get serious about hitting some good laptimes. The fact that Maxrev has beaten almost every single S2000 lap record with these coilovers shows that they're capable in the hands of the right driver.

The roll bar pictured is actually Maxrev's rollbar, i don't have a rollbar in my car. The roll bar is the gofastlabs roll bar. Pretty good lookin bar and functional too

Looks good guys.
I'm in the process of doing some research, im planning on building a weekend/road race car, I have my s2000, but im debating about buying a lotus elise or 911 instead.
Chances are ill play around w/ the s2000 and do some time attack stuff to see how well a boosted s2k does.
Roll bars in these cars seem to be a pain in the *** without hacking up some stuff.
Keep up the good work

My suggestion is gt28rs (full boost at 3500rpm and 400whp is a beast in the turns)

Thanks, Mase.
If you choose to stick with the turbo S2k build, it should be a monster without a doubt. As i'm sure you know, these cars have the chassis to handle much more power than whats given stock.
Of course, an elise or 911 would be fun too
. I've thought about the idea of getting a used elise and putting a kseries in there...But i love the s2k too much. Perfect balance of street/track capabilities. Elise really is one of those "only weekend" cars that only belongs on the track or some good backroads. I could not handle driving it everyday like i do with the S.
The roll bar in the picture did require cutting of the roll hoop covers and some other interior panels. Also, part of the chasssis was cut to make for solid mounting points
. Definitely not fun!

True...but i really wanted to take the win not only for myself, but for S2000 and Honda owners out there and to show what an almost stock powered S2k is capable of doing on the track
. Oh well, theres always next time
