Default speedo cuts off after 4800rpm??

weirdest thing happened to me today. driving along the freeway getting onto the onramp. it's a long curve around. I was taking the curve at a good speed. I merge onto the freeway when I look down and my speedo has dropped down to 0mph. I'm like WTF?!?!? maybe my wiring somewhere came loose or something. checked around and everything seems fine. never seen this before.

when I hit about 4800rpm and up, the speedo totally dies and I can't feel VTEC kick in at all.

JDM h22a motor with CAI, MSD 6btm, blaster 2 coil, and exhaust. all my mods/motor. I've had this setup for the last 4-5 years now with no problems. VTEC always came on, no electrical problems till now.

any suggestions?

if you vss does cut out vtec will not engage. so if the ecu does not see you going over 18km/h? vtec will not hit

the mounting tap might have broke off the vss like mine did and it jumped out.
just push it back inand i would sugest getting a new one.

or the plug might have come undone

mounting tap? you mean the wires that go into the connector?

just coded today for 17, VSS I'll see if there's a good connection. if there is, I'll replace the VSS. thanks for the quick replys.

no like the bracket that the bolt goes into to hold it down into the tranny.
