Default E-Brake light stays on

Like the title says, I've got another problem. Its the E-Brake light on the HUD that just stays on after I've put the handle down.
This just started yesterday after the lude sat out all night (its cold) and happened again today after sitting out while I was at work (its garage kept).

I know that the brakes aren't sticking because the car will roll down a hill and I can push it when its in neutral. Anybody know whats going on?

Thanks,
Scott

Do you have ample brake fluid in the reservoir?

You should see if your e-brake cable is tighten anyways. Doesn't hurt to try.

Brake fluid all the way. When its cold the fluids tend to shrink so to speak. So just pour some more in there and it will go off

Well, my fluid was full (I checked that when the problem first arised)
Its actually a problem; I pulled this from another site if anyone else is having this problem.

OK I looked it up and the is the jist of it.

Service Bulletin 03-078

Affects
96-00 Civic
97-01 CRV
97-01 Prelude
98-02 Accord

Parts need to fix the problem.

Filter part #46666-S04-J02 List of $5.08

Float part #46662-S84-999 List of $1.92

Try that and it should fix the problem

Failing that try lifting the centre console and spraying some WD-40 into the ebrake electrical contact switch, you might just have sticking contacts in the switch.
P.S. adjust it while you can get at the adjuster at same time.

Number 5 Switch in this diagram : http://www.hondaautomotivepart...BRAKE

mine does it to, every winter. i believe it has to do with a malfunction of the sensor built into the reservoir cap. i just ignore it and it goes away once the car is warmed up.
