A friend of mine said he would not buy an obd2 integra because obd1's were substantially more powerful. How much more powerful is the 94-97 integra vs. the 98+, and what mechanical differences account for the decrease in power in newer integras, specifically the gs-r
nothing new about 96 + gsrs except OBDII. OBDI was just less strict on emissions so ur car mite gain 5 hp or so i'm thinking? but the main advantage of OBDI one at this time right now is that it can be chipped when u upgrade ur car to heavy NA work or FI.
OBD1 cars typically dyno about 5-15hp more to the wheels and respond better to tuning. For example, if you added an intake to an OBD1 car, you'd gain more hp than putting it on a OBD2. A couple high performance shops say that their OBD1 turbo/super/na cars dyno higher than OBD2 with the same mods. HTH.
it doesnt make that big of a difference. ive pulled on obd1 GSRs w/ the same mods..(doesnt necessarily represent all obd1 GSRs) but yea...results vary..not worth the money IMO. (obd1 ecu plus harness)that is like one toda B cam~
im no too sure on track times, but i know of an obd1 ex civic with ihe who runs 15.8, and another one wiht same mods which is obd2 and runs 16.1
same driver and so the obd is the only difference
same driver and so the obd is the only difference

OBDI is supposed to have more horsepower, although I raced 2 OBD1 integras with i/h/e vs mine stock, and I pulled both by about 1.5-2 cars every time. Both are very good drivers too.
According to the specs I've seen, a stock OBD1 RS/LS/GS has 142hp while a stock OBD2 RS/LS/GS has 140hp. And the ODB1 and ODB2 GS-R's are both the same, at 170hp.
It's my understanding that OBD2 Integra's have two O2 sensors, while the OBD1's have only one, and that the ODB2's are more conservative and therefore don't respond as well to mods as an ODB1. An OBD1 Teg dynoing at 5-15 hp more at the wheels sounds like a pretty big exaggeration... maybe that's if it's heavily modded???
What the deal with the OBD2 -> ODB1 ECU adaptors costing so much? I saw one for $200 on c-speedracing.com!! I thought it was just a simple adapter that anyone could make themselves. Are they making 1000% profit on it or what?
