Transmission Problem on my Civic VX
i got a 92 civic vx, stock. no problems untill now.
here's the story.. i was driving up hill and stopped at a stop sign, when trying to put it into first gear it wouldnt go in, after trying it 3 more times it popped in... i was all happy then after half a block i hear a grinding sound, still in frist gear. i was like wtf, and then i tried shifting into second and it wouldnt go in, shoved the shifter into first and somehow i got home. looked at my tranny and nothing was wrong. afterwards test driving the car again the tranny seemed all fuked up. Sometimes first and second gear didnt go in and they keep grinding, the rest of the gears felt a little wierd... like they were about to pop out...
oh yeah, the wierdest ****, in first gear driving at 2500-3500 rpm a wired grinding sound, the same usual sound like in reverse...
could anyone give me some advice of what could be wrong.

I have a VX also. My stock transmissions fine and I'm looking to buy a Si/EX tranny for shorter gearing. VX tranny=horrible until you get on the highway.

i was wondering if there was a way to pull out the tranny w/o having to pull out the whole engine out... or is it just easier pulling the engine out too... doing this in my home garage...

Since when is aluminum not metal?
(kidding with ya)
96-00 have steel forks, definately a plus.

Y8 trannys have a slightly shorter 2nd gear than the ex/si trannys. aluminum forks are good and bad... bad cause they can break easier than steel forks... but good because having only the fork break can save other parts of the tranny...steel forks wont break as easy but might cause other parts to break easier. i personally would rather change out shifter forks than syncros and speed gears.
