Default Fuel Filter Related Problem?

Well i was driving the other day on the expressway and for some reason the hood latch disengages, wasn't going fast so nothing happened. I got off immediately and fixed it in a parking lot, when i started driving off the car felt like it lost a great ammount of power around the 2000-2500 area, after that it kicked back in and drove fine, than i would shift and same thing again and again. I got home- and when i would rev it, there was a popping coming from the motor, and some backfiring after i let off the gas. I had it parked for a while, just yesterday i started going over some things. I found that the header on the car was held on with 1 bolt??? and there was no gasket either. My friend said that could have caused that lack of power- so yesterday i reinstall the header tight as hell, and got a nice gasket for it as well. He also said it could be fuel related. How can i tell if my fuel rail, injectors, or filter is the sorce of the problem? The car has about 100k+ so maybe i should just change all the things anyways. I drove it earlier, the motor revs fine- once it warms up it starts hesitating less than it used to. Anything you guys could think of? Hopefully i can put this car to sleep- i might get the new sedan si and forget about this thing. but eh, gotta make it work for now

Have you done a regular tune up on the car?

Ignition wires, dizzy rotor/cap, spark plugs, air filter, & fuel filter is a good place to start.

i was planning on doing one this morning, well atleast buying the stuff. I guess ill go with oem wires? I switched out the sparkplugs already, oil change is this friday. I guess a new rotor/cap and air filter would be a good idea. I just hate this stuff happening- ever since i bought the car my parents have been giving me a hard time. I bought it- but they are still my parents i dont go around buying things for 2g all the time so i asked them and convinced them it would be reliable- cuz it was at the time. i got it, and im having to replace everything I guess its better cuz atleast i'll know everything has been replaced- and ive got receipts for it, better than taking some guys word for it.

Honda OEM wires, I wouldn't buy AZ wires. The prices are pretty similar so Honda ones owuld be good.

Very true, but if he hasn't done a tune up in a long time, a car with that many miles could definitely benefit from a tune up.
