Default d16y8 spark plug tube removal

hi ppl, im the new guy , read HT often, know im not suppose to post useless threads, so i figured id do my intro and Q as one...any help will be greatly appreciated...thanx everybody....and have a nice day..


so the other day i was pullin out the plug wires on a d16y8 head and on the 4th cyl, the lil rubber thingy got stuck...(accel wires) ne how , i tried pullin it out for a good 10 mins , but no luck...mind boggled, i turned to H-T for help, i got som ideas but still no luck, fustrated i tried to pull the whole tube off, .....i ended up squishing the living hell outa it and now im in deep ****....i was jus wondering if i can jus pull the tube out, its pretty tore up so doesnt matter how it looks when out, jus want the dam thin gone...i got another head laying around... i was wondering if i can use a tube 4rm that, ...

do i have any luck or am i F#$%^D?


oh and one more thing, when changing a timing belt, ppl say mark the belt, do they mean the direction its spins or matching the teeth to the camgear....and why?

yes marking the belt is imperitive , if your reusing the old one. if your not than dont bother. just as easy to set the engine to TDC on compression stroke , and leave it like that while changing to new belt. im pretty sure you can just replace the tube , but thats one thing never done in 15 years , so im not 100%. someone will know dude.

FSM does not show the tubes as seperate parts, no removal or install procedure, I believe thay are pressed in.

In short, I believe you may be fuct.

Luckly you have a spare head.......

yea, i think its part of the head. I think you need to replace your head.

thanx guys, i think im gonna take the whole head apart...if it looks replaceable, then ima bother, if not then i guess ima change the head...thanx again for all your time and keep techin.......
