Default Money for my car

ok ill be getting about 1500 for my taxes with my school credit is this enough to get my car boosted and tuned? or should i keep on saving it. Its a 92 ls 156000 ish miles it runs really strong just had a timing belt changed and all little maintance is done.

Save some more to get it boosted then tuned. But with the amount your gonna get, go ls/vtec. but boost will give you more power.

yeah thats definatly not enough money to boost, lsvtec is a good way to start it then boost it...(build it for boost)

we just had this discussion in the db squad thread if you search around and peice together a kit it will cost about 1500 + tuning for something pretty decent look in the forced induction forum faq and you should find price on about how much stuff is
oh if you buy used stuff make sure you check that turbo for shaft play

$1500 is needed for just the basic turbo kit. then you gotta add the clutch, exhaust, tuning, etc. $2.5-3k would be much more realistic.

you can build your own turbo kit for cheap if you search around, but you have to consider a few things. are you doing the work yourself? or are you going to be paying a shop to install your turbo for you? different shops have different rates for tuning. generally, expect to pay anywhere from $100-$150 per hour, with at least a two hour minimum. also, don't forget you are going to want to have some extra money in the bank to account for any problems you may incur.
