Why would you want to lower the temperature? Your car was designed and built to run properly at a specific temperature.

He's asking about coolant temperatures, not intake temperatures.

the cooler the engine, the better the response it will give

my compression is about 11.5:1 or close to it, maybe higher.

you can go to your local autoparts store and get an additive to put in the coolant, there are usually a couple different kinds but Royal Purple Purple Ice is pretty damn good as well as Design Engineering Radiator Relief . Royal Purple will reduce temperatures from 5-10% whereas the DEI product will drop the temp up to 30 degrees. Search the internet for both, or go to your local parts store.

your welcome..but the best thing to do is to change out the t-stat....although it is relatively low temp to begin with as it opens at 180 degrees...most cars are 192 degrees....BUT you can buy a t-stat that will open at 160 that will be more than adequate for wha you are looking for PLUS by changing it out you you can also flush out your system and remove any scale build up, etc

autozone sells them, you have to ask tho otherwise they will just give you the OEM temp..

yea, i managed an autozone for 5 years....the low temp one you got should technically then already be a 160 degree t-stat....how are things running/performing as of right now?

u can get a thermostat that opens at 160 instead of the factory 190, but if u get that, u have to get a fan switch that also opens at 160. Mugen and spoon makes those i believe

well, i have tried every sigle thing to lower the temp, nothing seems to work so far, i even wired the fan direct so it can be on all the time, damn thing still reaches close to half....i have yet to figure out how to lower it....the performance has never been the same when i changed the radiator...i remember when the needle never passed the quarter mark...but now it is about 40% now....hhmm so yeah

i was guessing if they acctually had a fan switch that opened up earlier...i replaced the fan switch also because the previous one was damaged, so i guess the one i had before was from honda..maybe!!

but the fan will turn on at the temp at about 40%, before it were to turn on at 25% maybe 30%..

i just want my temp to lower...my car felt much much better before, now it starts pinging and had to retard the timing even more...so im stuck

I agree. modern cars run best at hotter temps to promote complete combustion. not hot to the point if over heating.180 -210 is ideal.
