Default for anyone debating afc or hondata

i thought i would throw this in just in case anyone is debating between an afc or hondata or anyother sort of stand alone tuner.

today got the hondata s300 installed and tuned. between the afc and hondata i picked up 17 hp and 30 ft lbs of torque over the best possible tune that the afc was able to give. the afc will run you $340.00 plus and hour or two of tuning, mine took 2 hours which ended up costing $640.00. the hondata with ecu ran $890 with an hour and a half tune, total coast was $1050.00. so with only a $400 difference the overall addition in power is well worth it. hope this helps someone in their decision.

*edit* also with the higher range of tuning ability it helps a hell of a lot more.

This answers a question that I had doubts about asking since I figured that there was gonna be some a$$ hole that had something slick to say instead of just answering my question lol. Thanks for posting

what mods do you have on your lude? I always thought that if you only have i/h/e then the vafc should be enough but anything more, the hondata would be the way to go

While I do fully endorse spending the money for the Hondata, who took two hours to tune your AFC? I've had four tuned now in my time and it's never taken a full hour, let alone two. Were there alot of issues or something?

im not sure what took so long, could have been cuz i told him to be thorough and i know they weren't f'n around cuz i was back there with them. i had them tune both today just so i could know, i know it was a waste of money but i wanted to justify to myself and to anyone else the difference between the two. plus i was curious to know how much i actually was picking up

the VAFC isn't really a stand alone fuel computer it's more of a piggyback, besides the stated power gains there are a LOT more benefits then just more power with a hondata unit.

To me stand-alone unit is the only way to tune a cars fuel and timing tables(something only a stand alone can do, a VAFC "controls" both these tables together and inversely)

Its like the differance between "tricking" your parents in to letting you stay "at a friends house" and actually being able to just go to a party at night in high school =P WHile tricking your parents would get you to the party, you can activately party better and more openly not having to check in drunk that same night hehe

oh i was in no way compairing the two, this was only posted cuz i have seen a couple threads like " should i get an afc for tuning" or " whats so good about hondata". things like that so i wanted to just give a general difference in my case.

ill definatly work on getting them posted, and yes the two are stacked and they are the only two on the sheet
