Default recirculate dumptube into downpipe?

i've already tried searching on this topic but couldnt find anything. i've heard that by having the wg dumptube recirculate back into the downpipe you'll actually get a few more hp and it wont be so loud. but i've also heard that by dumping to open atmosphere it can give a faster spool because the wastegate is met with no backpressure at the expense of more noise. any truth to either statements?

Its true that recirculating the wastegate into the downpipe will make it more quiet, but im pretty sure you wont gain any hp at all by doing this. If that was true then race cars would have the dumptube connecting to the downpipe.

if it's a sound issue, and you don't want to redesign your dump tube, then put a $10 lawn mower muffler on there. You can find them in very small sizes, and are very quite. I've done that before, and learned that trick from the domestic community

it can effect performace if the turbo is sucking up the exhaust from the dumbtube if its not routed the right way

if you route it back in 3ish feet from the turbine outlet it wont hurt much, but any closer and you will sacrifice a good ammount of power and it will slow the spool a good ammount b/c of added backpressure in the exhaust

just make sure u dump down and away from intake so the turbo dosnt pull back exhaust. i was hessitant about dumping to atmosphere cause of noise but now i wouldnt want it any other way! imo.

I love the sound of an open dump tube.

It's not like it's loud when you are just driving. It's only loud when you are at full boost, which means you are really getting on it, and at that point you are just trying to hold on to the steering wheel, much less worry about how much noise you are making. lol

if it is a sound issue then yes recirculate it, and yes you will lose hp not alot but in essense you are making your exhaust smaller, by adding extra air into a confined space.
