Default Intake and Water Question

Hey everyone, I've got a question here. On my car I took out the Air Resonator Box where the intake comes in on the car. All I have left of the intake is the part coming off the engine, filter, and the bottom of the intake (where it would normally go into that box, but now does not). Today it rained and I am getting a considerable amount of water up in that hole. If the air filter gets wet, is this going to damage my engine? I don't think it's getting too wet because the water sprays up in there and then drips out again, but I'm just concerned. What do you all think?

So did ya think about what might happen if the air filter gets good and soggy and a chunk gets sucked into the throttle body and jams it at wide open throttle?
Or passes thru and holds a valve open while the piston comes up and slams into it?
What is the purpose of letting the air filter get wet?
What do I think? I'll withhold that comment for you to wonder about; but my thoughts contain words such as moron, idiot, fool, and dufus.

Personally, I like DUFUS. It's my favorite.

i would give this a big yes something bad will happen. just go ahead and put on the whole intake back on. there is no real signifigant difference with or without the box power wise.

if the paper filter is old, the paper and dirty probably will block air flow after it's been soaked.

I do appreciate the help here, and yes, I was too cheap to buy a 200$ AEM Cold Air Intake (that's the only real brand I trust). No real horsepower gain at all, it was more for the sound. I took the box apart to see how wet the filter actually got, and it wasn't all that wet, not soaked anyways. I do probably need to change some things.

And another thing, I don't want to be rude, and I do truly respect this person who posted the above. Look, I may have made a mistake in TRYING something, it was for no means a permanent fix here. People have to stomp on your ideas and rub it in you face. Granted, I'm very good about taking constructive criticism (sp?) and I don't know a whole lot about engines btw. I mean if you had come into this forum and said you ran your car without an air filter (which I know you wouldn't do) I'd have some choice words for you, but I would write them on here, I'd kindly tell you that you need your air filter and that you should put it back together. Now you wonder about that comment.

Just another quick question. What happens when a Cold Air Intake filter gets wet? I mean they sit a lot lower to the ground than my stock one. I know you're supposed to run a bypass valve (I'm not that much of an idiot to run one without, I know a friend who put to big holes in his block from hydrolock). Isn't it really just the same thing as running the filter I have now wet?

i got my cold air intake for 75 bucks.

As for being critized LOL, welcome to honda-tech. better yet it is human nature, so get used to it, **** i asked a guy a ? on here I nearly got my head ripped off.

As for the aftermarket cold air intake getting wet i would not worry about it too much, just make sure you avoid BIG puddles, and as long as you don't live in an area that does not rain alot you're cool. The good thing about my CAI is if it keeps raining non-stop i can just shorten it to fit under the hood, even though i have a by-pass valve.

Was it an AEM? The weird thing about the Cold Air Intake on these year Accords (94-97) is their location. They do go outside the car, but a Short Ram Intake, although not going outside the engine bay is still a distance from the engine, and would be tucked between the battery and the body, so you really don't have to worry much about it sucking in the engine bay heat. What do yall think? SRIs are a lot cheaper than CAIs.
