Interested in buying a 91 dx hatch.. However the transmission is shot. and I was told the torque converter is messed up. He says it cranks but it wont start.

My dad said it should still start, and that the torque converter has nothing to do with it starting.

It should still start. I have had a couple fried auto trans before and the engine should start and idle in Park or Neutral but either wont go into gear, or goes into gear but will not drive.

This is assuming that you don't also have a problem with the engine, in addition to the transmission/torque converter being toast.

 

if it turns over it should start.. look 4 something else sounds it has been a tough life 4 that car .........id buy a 5speed its more fun!!

 

He said the tranny and t/c are TOAST..
