Need low power consumption relay
I Need a low power consumption relay for some upcoming security mods. Something that wont drain the battery when left in a closed position with the car off. Anyone know where to get one? radio shack?
Need one for a starter kill and another for a fuel kill. The one I have on the starter currently draws too much power. Will drain the battery if left for a week or 2. After doing some research, I think a switch will suffice for the other stuff, (sensors) the current draw is so low.
brinks dont worry
any regular spdt relay will draw very little (almost no) current in a normally closed position
just go to your local stereo shop and buy a relay. bosch or potter & brumfield are preferred. i bet if you want theyll wire them for ya for just a coupla bucks.
expect to pay $2-5 for a relay.

the relay is in this mode because it is also operating an led indicator to show that it is active. All 5 terminals are being used for this setup. (part of the hoodlock setup) When coil power is connected, the light comes on and the starter is disconnected. I suppose this could be accomplished with 2 relays though and could allow the relay to be normally closed. Actually, if a thief did manage to break the hoodlock and find the relay and removed it, the connection would be totally broken and the car would not start. It would require some minor rewiring. Easy to do but not so easy if you dont know how its wired. Regardles, it is not my only line of defense. Thanks 4 the concern though, yopur asistance is always appreciated.
