burning oil
my car is burning oil. i have bolt ons and no internl work. ireally need to get this fixed b4 i run out of money. i burn a quart every two weeks if i dont get on it. will i need any head work.
Mostly likely thing is valveseals, pistons rings, or Both.
If you have an LS though, it would Almost be cheaper/easier looking for a new engine,
You can pretty much get them from anywhere between 500-1000.
nevermind, your title says gsr, So I'll assume you have a gsr then,
Then you'd be better off having it rebuilt.

Depending on whats needed, valveseals would be much cheaper then piston rings,
Being you only have to replace the seals in the head.
While if you have bad rings, you pretty much have to pull the engine to replace them,
Since they're in the block, and you might need the cylinder walls honed for a good seating for the new rings.
Parts would be a lot cheaper then labor, Valves seals are less then 30-50 I think,
Rings will be a little more expensive, I think they can range over a 100 possibly,
And you'd need new bearings for the rods since they're connected to the pistons,
Which would have to be removed to hone the cylinders, and such.
Probably if you had to take it to a mechanic, You'd be getting bent over backwards in labor costs,
Best thing to do is try to get some quotes from a few different shops.
Also the burning oil, as long as you keep it topped off, should pose no Real reliability problem,
Other then you having to check your oil often.

But did you have any problems with oil burning,
or have to replace anything internally?

yup no reliability problems even tho it burns oil. My civic been burning for more than 25k miles. STill runs strong and i only had to top it off once because it was bone dry after like 3k miles.
if you want to stop the burning process get something called "restore" by ametech. you can pick it up at kragens. i got better gas mileage, more power and my oil consumption was reduced a lot! if u do decide to pick this up, get two 4 cylinder cans. Pour both cans in after a fresh oil and oil filter change. Then add one every oil change.

If its a LS, just buy a b20b motor. $1000 max to spend. motor is like $700?
