I'm looking to max out my SC50 next season, but I'm wondering if the time comes for me to upgrade...is a Precision SC61 (say, SC6152E 5-bolt) the same size as my current SC50 (.48 a/r exhaust)?
It would be nice for me to simply swap turbos without hacking up my 3" downpipe again, so I was just wondering if I would need to modify my current setup if I switched from the SC50 to SC61.
Also, is it possible to get my SC50 rebuilt by Precision to SC61 specs? Dumb question I know, but I don't know turbo internals all that well.

SC 61 wheels won't fit 50 housings but the turbos will be a direct swap as long as you stick with whatever discharge style you currently have.
I'd call Precision up and ask about the turbines. AFAIK they don't mess with Garrett's exhaust housings. Even if you go from a .48 to .63, you won't have much of a move - 1" at the most.
As for rebuilding it to an SC61, all I think they'd need is your turbo, the larger comp wheel, and the proper housing; possibly a diff backplate. You could still sell the SC50 wheel/housing on ebay for a few bones, and make it even cheaper to upgrade.
