Default I have a k-series block question...

Ok i am building a k-series EK9. I need to know which type of block is better for running high boost (i am going to do the internals and all.) Which block should i use on a k20a2 type s head:

K24 block
K20a2 block

and

with having high boost which tranny would be best

5 spd
6 spd
or
6 spd LSD

ME, PERSONALLY...

Since the K20A2 is already built for semi-high compression (11:1 OEM), I would go with a K24A3, which is 9.5:1. Unless you plan on adding dishtop low compression pistons to compensate for boost... I would go with the K24!1/3/4 setup.

And I would go with a 6 speed LSD setup on the tranny... better straight line and corner traction, and more gears

Here is a pretty cool FAQ thread, with numbers on a lot of motors you may be interested in... check it out... https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1759092

It all depends on what you put inside the block to determine wether it will hold boost....

If you put high compression pistons, and a hundreded shot of nitrous, you are going to pop something REALLY quick.

It is all in your form and function of parts and machine work to get a block prepped for boost.

Forged internals, low compression pistons, forged crank, upgraded head/cams/valves/components.

if you're going to build the bottom end, i'd go with the k24. there is no replacement for displacement.

People have run high boost on both K20 + K24's and I have never seen a sleeve failure. Obviously the K24 is going to give you more torque but the K20 has the rod stroke ratio better suited for revs. Its really a toss up in my opinion, whatever you can find for cheaper. I have 600+ K20's and K24's, but I have never seen a 10sec K24, LOL!

Trans wise, the 6 speed sucks. Stay away!!! My car eats 6 speed gears for breakfast! The only trans. I have remotely seen stay together with high boost is the base 5 speed. Not to mention the gear ratios are longer making it more ideal for high boost.

Just my .02 cents
