Unlocking radio code
How?? I just bought a 1998 Acura integra and I cannot open my cd/radio...it always has error..I'd read somewhere that it can be unlocked..HELP!!
the dealership should give you the code for free, if they try charging you then just try another one. you can do it over the phone, no need to waste your time driving. just get the serial # off the bottom.

Does it say "CODE" or is it another error? If it doesn't say "CODE", then unlocking the radio won't resolve your issue.

If you need the code to unlock it, try looking underneath the ashtray. Mine had a sticker attached to the the bottom of the ashtray that had the code on it. Hope that helps

A dealership shouldn't charge you to give you a radio code but they will charge you if they have to take out the radio to get the serial # off the back.
Be warned... any reputable dealership will not just give you the code if you bring in a radio. Proof of ownership should be required as it helps deter stereo theft. Whether it's a receipt from an autowrecker or you have your car with you with the stereo out, etc. The only charge a dealership should give you is if they have to pull the radio out of your car.

its not like that code thing ever prevented theft anyway. someone somewhere will always give you the code without proof of ownership.

I can also get you the code
I can also get you the code
i called local dealership regarding the unlock code for the radio, and they said she can't do it over the phone because they need to make sure that you own the vehicle to the VIN that you provide them. but they still charge about $15-20 each. and i even called a dealership in norcal just to see what they said... and it's the same ordeal.
As has been said before, you might try looking under the ashtray, and under the lid of the fuse box (in the engine bay). Next place to look is either inside the glovebox, or on the side of the glovebox when you open it up. If it's not there, go ahead and remove your radio and look behind it. I had the same problem about a month ago, and I ended up finding the sticker on the floor underneath the radio when I removed the console to take the radio out. I brought my car in to the dealer and got my code within 20 minutes.

you already had two different people offer to get you the code. just give them the serial # off the bottom of the stereo. it's that simple.
