Proper procedure installing clock spring/cable reel SRS

Ok, so my cable reel, aka clcok spring broke, and now my horn, cruise control, and audio, basically all the buttons near the steering wheel don't work. I'm planning on getting a new clock spring, because this is the culprit however, does anyone kno how to install this. I read somewhere that you have to turn it prior to installation, and others say that you just plug and play.....and i couldnt find any other information elsewhere since these things are rare to break, soooo my guess is as good as yours....anyone care to chime in thanks
You want to have the steering centered, the new 'reel' will come with a piece of tape holding it in the centered postion.
You'er not buying a new one huh??.. Well, I've got one here with me, as to whether or not it still works.. I don't know.. Catch my drift??..
If it's not new, plug it in first and make sure the darn thing works.. And don't forget to center that damn thing with your turn counts..

ok well the guy I bought the car from just got me one for free, so for future reference to anyone that might come across this problem, you can either turn it left or right, just make sure that you divide the number of turns by 2.
Example turn it clockwise or counterclockwise (you dont need to count the number of turns for this), now turn it the opposite way and count the number of rotations/revolutions. Divide that number by 2 and rotate it opposite again by that number you just divided by two.
Example: you turn it all the way to the right. Then you turn it to the left until it stops turning, and get a count of 4. you need to center the clock spring by rotating it right 2 times.
Note* this is done so when you install the thing, it wont snap when you are making uturns to the left or right. PM if you still dont understand it.
When people say center that is what they mean, they assume you know what "center means" which not everyone does, so this should now clear that up.

Back from the dead how do center the clock spring without it being installed on the steering wheel ?

In the picture I circled the thing you are supposed to look at. Turn the clock spring until the little yellow dot goes in the middle. In the picture the clock spring is centered, just not centered onto the steering wheel.
