mainly for the hood and rad support clearance...

other than that, why would you want to hang the turbo way out there like that? the tighter it is to the block the shorter your braces have to be from the block to the turbo.

i would guess the longer distance = esier to do equal length but other then that its not the best designe

I have seen tons of manifolds like that. It's a pretty good design compared to whats avalible for VWs. looks like the return line would be a lot easier to run than the ramhorn topmounts you guys use. It would be lighter too i think.

lookin good. some of the good thing that are few and far for us VW guys. most of our stuff is either cast or is just a log manifold. you guys make me jealous over the fab work here.

pretty much man . I feel the FI tech boards on the vortex are worthless. Most of out fabricators are on here too. What i see you guys do with forced induction has me green with envy , but i am building a s/c car to do something different in our scene . Most of the tubro setups ive seen havent pulled me in with details. There all built from the same pile of parts . at least on this side of the pond for the most part.

As posted, mainly due to the space restrictions. Its not easy to bend tubing with a radius as tight as most pipe fittings - at least w/o getting a warp piece of scrap. Mandrel machines also aren't all that cheap.

I think it has to do more with the fact theres so many people getting a tig for their birthday here. Being an open market, and one that desires the cheapest parts possible, only the best [at balancing workmanship with price] remain.

I wish I could bolt on a 6th gear. But that's why we have K20's.

up untill about 300HP you could use a old sprinkler system for a manifold ,It doesn't seem to matter.

grab your turbo, hold it up nice and tight to your chest, see how that feels, then hold it at the same height with your arms extended forward, then think of all the extra stress you are putting on your exhaust studs, head studs, headgasket, and all the other ****. that's why i wouldn't build a manifold that sticks way the hell out from the engine.
