Wierd Engine Knock Pls help diagnose
Ok 93 teg LS B18 blah blah blah. When I start it and the engine is cold, it has an extremely loud knock until the oil light goes out, when the light goes out it gets quiet.... doesnt completely stop but less noticeable,I was thinking rod bearings until i was playin with it the other day and pulled off the number 3 plug wire and the knock stopped. I have a new set of plugs and wires on it. I pulled the other wires one by one but it made no change in the sound until i pulled the number 3. My other thought is the possibility of that injector dumpin too much fuel into the cylinder. This started about 1000 miles after a head gasket. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Rod Knock. i was learning about this when my motor made a wierd noise. ended up not being a rod knock but did the Powersurge test by pullin each plug and see if it made noise die out..
my 92 does the same thing, im pretty sure its the oil just getting to all the bearings and such. especialy if its cold. i just crank it first, dont let it start just tap the igniton then let it start usualy doesnt do it when i do this. its pretty much sayin motors tired/old from what i have heard.
But wouldnt it still have that little bit of knock even when i pulled the plug wire? That wouldnt stop the crank from turnin that cylinder but i have to drop the pan anyway for a pan gasket so i guess worse case scenario ill roll a set of bearings in it if it hasnt hurt the crank.
