Default engine obd...? help

Hey guys,

I have searched but couldn't find the page that tells you what obd your engine is. I'm asking because I bought a jdm b18c that came out of a 93 teg, but it came with an obd2 loom and ecu. I'm wondering if the engine is obd2 aswell. The # on it is 1104103. Perhaps they changed in a newer engine at some stage? Any help would be great.

Cheers Greg

Does the distributor have 1 or 2 plugs?

And on the fuel injector connectors, are there metal retaining clips, or is it a normal tabbed one?

Thanks for answering man. I just had a quick look and the dizzy has one plug and the injectors have normal plastic clips with no metal retainer.

it doesnt matter all the motors are the same. you can convert a obd-0 to obd-2 and vise versa

dont OBD-2 engines have 2 oxygen sensors? If one was missing, you'd be throwing a code.

I'm not sure, I always thought it was 1994 and up (dc2). But I'm in NZ and we get all JDM cars, which may have had them earlier.

But the 02 sensors aren't on the engine unless of course the swap was shipped here with half the exhaust still attached.

edit: OBD2 JDM ECUs do not look for two 02 sensors either.

Where getting off track here anyway. It seems that the b18c started comming out in integras after may 1993. So it could possibly be from that. However, everything else points to it being an obd2 engine and loom. Also one of the engine mounts that came with it looks custom made from aluminium. So do guys think that the engine was changed at some stage then? I thought my first swap would be straight foward

B18c was not sold in anything until 94 model year.

usdm got the B17a1, and JDM got the B16a.

if it has 1 dizzy plug it is obd2.

either way, it doesnt really matter if you have the complete harness that went to the motor, it will plug right into your del slow car harness, but you will need an OBD1 P72 or equivelant ecu to run it as an obd1 swap.
