The main relay in my buddy's DA is acting up. It wont stop clicking when the ignition is in the "on" position. It cranks but wont start. He tried buying a new one but no luck. I was think a short somewhere. Any help would be great. TIA.

 

Clarify what you mean by "tried to buy a new one but no luck". No luck as is in the new one didn't fix the problem or he couldn't buy a new relay? If he couldn't buy a new relay.. let me guess... didn't go to the dealership?

He did buy a new one, but it didnt fix the problem.

 

If the relay chatters it either isn't..

Getting enough volts form the ignition switch

Or from the battery (weak)

Or a ground somewhere doesn't have a good enough connection.

Thats what I was thinking. He replaced th dash a little while ago, so Im guessing its a ground.

 

i have this same damn anoying problem. how fricken anoying is it when im driving to have my car just freakin shut off. stupid POS lol. i dunno what to do. i checked my grounds : thermostat,engine and tranny. i checked the pgmfi relay nd yeah i got no clue. also my battery keeps dying even though i borrowed my friends.. my alterntor is not dead though i had it tested i dont know what the hell my problem is..
