Default 89 SiR CRX - Adjusting cable clutch??

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for adjusting the cable clutch on a 89 SiR CRX..

The friction point is pretty much right at the top of the pedal..

It almost feels as if its past the pedal..when you release the clutch you can hear/feel that its slightly engaged still but then comes out a moment later..

Thanks

I want to say the clutch adjuster is right infront of the ebrake under the center trim piece.

Can't remember off hand or find my copy of Chilton's.

there's a plastic **** just beneath and in front of the battery tray that you can use to adjust the tightness of the cable. The pedal itself has bolts on it for adjusting its throw height. Dont let the clutch pedal bottom out on the plastic safety button (you'll see it under there), or you will break it eventually.

Also, while you are fiddling with it, remember this test:

Put the car in first
Take it back to neutral
Rev the engine in neutral
Clutch and try to put it gently into first
If it is difficult to get back into first, then the cable is too tight.

I just pull up on the cable and adjust it so it has about 1/8" of play. It should be just a little loose.

Play with it, loosen it a turn and try it then loosen it some more, if needed.
Or tighten it. You know what I mean.

This way you will learn how it works for next time.
