Default 4th gen install?

aight i know you guys are sick of cv axle questions... but when putting the new ones in which i got today and get a chance to put them back in when i realized discount gave me a wrong axle, but the metal ring that is around the end of the spline on the transmission side of the axles... do you leave that on or take it off...what exactly is the purpose of it?

I'm sorry, could you ask this again but make sense? Sounds like you're talking about the ABS sensor ring, but that should be on the wheel side of the axle.

its a ring clip, and it helps hold the axle in the tranny or intermediate shaft. These are supposed to be replaced whenever the ax;e is removed but probably dont need it.

I've used the same clip twice. Its always a good idea to replace it with a new one, but I had to replace the axle in a street by my work.
