yes, i know swaps have been covered plenty of times, even in a sticky at the top of this forum...but my question is with regards to bar legality in california. i want to know what my options are for a swap in my 99 civic that will be legal. now i know that the engine has to be the same year or newer as your shell, and i know that you have to get all of the original smog equipment. i would love to put a b18c1 in, but were gsr's even made in 1999 or 2000? thanks in advance.

how exactly does barring an engine work? do they have a way of telling what year the engine is from...i guess what im asking is if the engine came from a 99 gsr, would they know the difference between a 99 and 01? or do they just know the general year the engine came out of?

don't have hte money at the moment...just bought a new car, otherwise id be all over it

 

yes all motors come with a date stamped on top of the exhaust manifold
