Default IACV *TRY THIS ON FOR SIZE*

ok ok ok.. i know what you are thinking.. its another IACV surging thread. yeah. you're right. but heres the fun part, did some reading awhile back and went o0n and ended my misery of the surging idle pt. 1 and did the IACV block off and i looped the coolant lines.. yay it worked. no more jacked up idle. well about a week later, i start the car up and low and behold it starts to idle higher than it should, i let it warm up and then it starts again..... wahhh uhh waaaahhh uh waaahh uhhhh waaaahhhh uh... revving up and down and what not. so now im baffled. the iacv is completly blocked off from everything, so wtf is causing it to idle all jacked up again. ive checked and searched everything availible, so honda gods, please enlighten me.

do you have any vacuum leaks. just one disconected or damaged hose can cause it. happened to me and im sure plenty of other people

If I recall you can test to see if it's the IACV or not by removing your intake piping and plugging the bottom hole with your thumb (might want to wear a glove) while the idle is surging, if it drops, it's the IACV, if not, check for vacuum leaks

make sure your vent tubes from the valvecover are hooked up right, that caused my weird idle. pcv-->intake mani and vc nipple thingy--->intake nipple thingy.

I had the same problem a while back it was my fast idle thermo valve...the thing that sticks out from under your throttle body... this link should help

the FITV is usually the problem...not the IACV

I looped my IACV lines and had the same problem. It ran fine for about a week and then all of a sudden I got stuck in traffic and it went nuts and I got a CEL. I switched everything back to stock and cleared the code and no problems since. I have no idea what the problem was though.

problem solved.. ripped the FITV off and and welded a plate to it to block it off, removed the IACV block off plate and reinstalled and now all is fine..
