Default (searched) When I hit vtec-check engine-no more vtec

That's right! When I hit vtec at 5500, I get a check engine and no more vtec. I do not get a check engine light unless I hit vtec. After I turn the car off, the check engine light goes away and there is no code in the computer!"Son of a Bitch" Tell me what you think even if it hurts! Thanks.

have you tried to check the code yet. if i'm not mistaken, if you jump the connector, you should still get a code. My guess is it's probably one of the vtec codes?!?

If it was a knock sensor, the check engine light and code would stay on the computer until it was cleared.

do you have an oil pressure gauge? if so what psi are you hitting when vtec engages?

there is also a screen behind the vtec solenoid that can become clogged.

Sounds like you are having VSS issues. once that signal is broken, at wot, a code pops up and bye bye vtec.

You can just check the code immediately after this happens. Next time it happens, just pull over as soon as you can and jump the connector.
