snapped 2 wheel studs
i snapped 2 on the front passenger side wheel, opposite of each other, so its not as bad as having 2 studs that are next to each other. i kno that i obviously shouldnt take turns to fast...
so my question is: 1) what is the max speed i should be goin on the hwy? 65? i have no choice, i have to drive home...and 2) about how much do shops charge to have studs replaced?

what shop did u go to, a big name shop or a local? i remember pepboys telling me it would be either 30 or 80, depending on the type of rotors i have or something.
there easy to fix yourself...cause i've heard of plenty of people gettin ripped from shops...when they take maybe 20-30 minutes to replace.
it's not that easy.......you have to have a press to get the stud out, I broke one and I've been riding on it for like 6 months.....Take it to a moore and patron or midas or something...........they should be able to do it for <$50 (hopefully)

/\/\You don't have to have a press, a hammer will do fine.
You'll have to of course take off the wheel and it helps to take off the rotor and caliper. I think a stock stud will come out without removing the hub or grinding, but to install ARP extended studs you have to either pull the hub off or grind off a section big enough for the stud to fit through to get it in.
Just hammer out the stud and use an open ended lug nut and washer to pull it back through.

the ones in the back are easy...the ones in the front take twice as long. while you're in there, you might as well replace the other two also. i've broken like 5 studs in the 2 years i've had my car. 3 in the front and 2 in the back. on all four corners. a slide hammer will definetely do the trick on the front hubs.
The stock stud will not come out (on the front) without grinding or removing the hub.
My stock stud, broken off at the rotor will not come out without grinding........let alone a new full sized one (even with removing caliper and all). I'll take pics if you need me to.

midas told me it wil cost 55 for the 2 on the fronts. i think its worth it for not having to go thru the trouble.
pepboys said 100 and firestone says 85...so yea i think ill go with midas ha

lol guys its not that hard to replace the studs. just buy new studs and ask the clerk how to put them on... i broke 3 of them usin a air gun to take them off... all i had to do was take off a bolt/screw and put new ones in...
pep boys charged me $140. i was younger then and i had no idea. later on, when i was getting new tires, discount tire snapped the one that pep boys put on and they gave me a free replacement at midas.

Now that I think back on it I clearly remember not having to grind anything until I put the ARPs in. So if it will not come outwithout grinding, how did I do it? Am I just that good?

Not to be an ***..... But I guess you are that good.......that, and our cars must be different. *on mine* it is impossible to remove it by "pushing" or beating....or whatever you want to do.... It is going to hit the area behind the stud..... end of story.

If you rotate the hub, there are some spots that give more clearance than others. I do know that I f'ed up the threads pretty bad getting them out....but they came out. Hopefully the OP can get his out.
