So i get in the car today and i notice something different with my clutch. When the car is off the clutch pedal goes down in a smooth continues motion, but when the engine is on either in gear or nutreul, the pedal goes down realy rough, almost like in a bunch of different steps. Anyone know what the problem could be? BTW I have a 97 civic ex with the stock y8 and tranny with 73k miles on the car
Things to check: 1) clutch fluid level, is it low? reservoir empty? Sounds like you might have air in the line.
2)Slave cylinder. Have a friend depress the clutch pedal for you while looking at your slave cylinder. Pull the black plastic boot away from it and watch it. While he presses the pedal you should see the fork moving back and forth a short distance in a smooth motion.
3) Your clutch master might be pooched.
Let us know what you find.
