Default Stripped Valve Cover Nut?

Yep, from over-tightening. *slaps himself across the face* What can I do to fix this? What would a mechanic do, cost? Drill it out and replace it? Is there a way to do this to save my valve cover & cost?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take the valve cover off, you will see that the studs that you tighten onto are removable from the head with another 10mm nut, just take it out and replace it, theyre cheap from the dealer

The problem is that I can't take the cover off. The nut is stripped and is unable to be removed from the stud.

Guess I should of been more clear.

Yeah I've had this problem b4. U just gotta get it off any way u can. If u have air tools, just try to get it out with an air gun while using something like a flat head screwdriver to press up on it at the same time.

I just replaced all my valve cover bolts do to the same problem. The way I got mine off is to work something under the cover so you are applying upward pressure on the bolt it takes some time but it'll come off.

Good stuff guys! I thought it was a more severe problem. A friend of mine had the same thing happen after we replaced his OEM cover with a painted/polished version. He paid a few hundred $$ to have it fixed. I know there must of been a better, not to mention cheaper way of doing it.

Thanks!
