Default throwing codes in my EG

well finally got around to it, i checked my codes....im throwing CEL 23, and 41
23 is knock sensor
41 is o2 sensor

my question is,
1)does the knock sensor go bad easily? can this be the reason why im wacking rev limiter at 7 grand? i dont hear any knocking idle is at 1000

2)if i do disable the o2 sensor will this help in performance?

i need help, im thinking of jus taking it out and overhauling it

All stock? What model?

I'll tell you that I have a 94 VX and I had a O2 CEL and was getting average 32-34 MPG. After I bought a new (expensive) 5 wire O2 sensor my gas mileage is back up to 44-47 MPG.

got a gsr in my hatch too. Did you run the wire for your knock sensor to the proper pin on the ECU. if you didnt your timing will probably be extremely retarded when the revs get high (vtec) to avoid detonation. My 94 hatch had a d16z6 in it with a p28, those engines didnt have a knock sensor, therefore i had to run the wire myself when i did the swap using an obd1 p72 ecu. Once i did run the wire it really woke the car up, the code went away and she pulled a little harder.

as for the o2 sensor i also have that code, but its for the o2 sensor heater, im sure its just a wiring issue that ill look into this weekend and let you know.

if you don't replace your 02 sensor your car will stay in open loop and will run very rich. you need closed loop in order for your car to run correctly.
