ok well i have an 00 gsr....light started blinking when i put on my type r headers and whent straight pipe....i had just done an oil change the day before that...this was about a month n a half ago.. just yesterday the light decided to stay on....i checked all my fluids and can only think of one thing...my cat has a sensor on it...and since i went straight pipe...the sensor isnt plugged into anything...could i be right??need help..thanx
Is it a maintenance required light or a check engine light?
A maintenance required light comes on due to mileage. It doesn't know anything else except mileage. If your car is an 8k mileage setup it'll come on at 8,16,24, etc. If it's a 6k mileage setup it'll come on at 6,12,18, etc. There is no problem with the car it just means it's due for some servicing. Go to your local honda/acura dealership to find out the maintenance schedule and either get it done or do it yourself.
If it's a check engine light, then yes there is a problem somewhere and that sensor could be your problem

Um, wow. The maintenance required light comes on to remind you to change the oil at 7,500 miles, and has nothing to do with the check engine light, or any sensor on the car. After so many miles, it blinks on startup. After some more than that, it stays on.

Yeah sometimes when it comes on it won't shut back off. I've noticed this when I've changed my own oil too. Just manually turn it off. Sitting in the drivers seat take your right hand and reach behind the dash. It's a flat button that you press and hold while your car is on and the light will go off. If you've never used it before it might take a second to find it. It's right behind the dash and up about 1"-1.5".
