Just got my gt4294r and was wondering if the coolant lines are an absolute must. I've seen a couple pics of some SFWD car on here that dont run them. The car will not see much street time.
pics would also be appreciated......thanks.

I heard that the seals sometimes leak and the water will cause it to rust.

I'd run them. BB turbo CHRA's use barely ANY oil... only enough to lube the bearings. Without the water being ran, the turbo is seeing virtually no cooling effect from the oil.
A journal bearing turbo runs so much oil through the CHRA, that it keeps it cool as well.

even on a drag only car?
even on a drag only car?
We do not run them on our car.........but our car does not run for more than a minute or two.
SFWD cars drive too and from the lanes and go through hell compared to ours.
I recommend using cooling lines.
The BIGGEST reason is it will void your warranty on the turbo, TRUST ME, THEY CAN TELL WHEN THEY PULL YOUR TURBO APART!
The reason, I BELIEVE is because the seal in tha BB cartridge is a material like Phenolic or something like that, so without water cooling the situation heat will eventually get the best of the seal. That is something I heard Harry explain to someone, but I was not directly in the conversation. Just overheard.
Hope that helps.

According to Justin @ Innovatuve turbo, he said it wasn't necessary if it's just a drag car. We run the T72 BB with no coolant lines but I highly recommend using coolant otherwise.
