Default D15B1 vs D15B2

What makes the DX motor have 23 more hp than the STD motor seeing that they are both DPFI with the same displacment/bore/stroke? Is it the cam profile?

No, just looked now, says 16 valve right on the valve cover, only 8 valve D-series is 92-95 CX, same hp but not valves or manifold of injector setup...

Good to know about the cam and ECU because I already have an Si ECU for a MPFI swap now that I know I can look into getting a a6 or ZC cam also for more power, and eventually a 5 spd Si tranny which helps out more than the DX tranny, although I will put the DX 5th gear in I think.

Yea I was wrong, don't know or deal with HF's though, what is the engine code on a HF anyways? I know 85-87 CRX Si had 12 valves... says so on the manifolds...lol

If I swap out the ecu from my b2 to my b1, will I get more power?

Usually I would say no, because you don't have the hardware to back it up. But who knows, it may give you a little. You could probably find a B2 cam for dirt cheap and then you'd see a little difference.

I own a d15b1 ed6 from Canada. I have 4 speed manual transmission is it the same box on your cars ?
It's very rare here in France.

Ok, thank you for your answer. In France we only have 5 speed or auto tranny. I think that I will swap a 5 speed box.

But the 5 speed vs 4 speed doesn't increase horse power. I've read all the replies, but still don't know what the difference is that increases the HP. I have both engines, the b2 is not in my hatchback, the b1 is. 20 HP seems like a lot more, has to be something different in the mechanics, I can't see that a diff ECU would make that much difference.

Cam is difference.
Ecu is different.
Exhaust manifold is different.
Intake manifold "restrictor plate" is different.
There are probably a few other things as well.
