Apexi Oil Pressure Gauge install.
Just got this little doodad in the mail today. It comes with its own sending unit. Now it says that i could just replace the apexi unit with the stock unit but to my knowledge this would disable the ecu's ability to actuate the vtec solenoid to push the pin and lock the rockers. I'm not really wanting to buy a T to use the stock sensor and the apexi sensor. Would there be any way to splice the stock harness into the APEXI harness so that the ecu can get readings?
The apexi harness is 3 wire (guessing signal, power, and ground). Is this what the stock unit uses?

nevermind, got my answer.
the stock sending unit is only for instrumental use. the ecu uses a different sensor to detect oil pressure and to actuate the solenoid. I'll just be losing the use of my oil light, but thats not important to me anymore considering i have a friggin gauge, lol

...well I know that but WHY would u want to know that? You dont have to worry about that in a stock car so why do you have to worry about that in a modded N/A car? (I can understand having it for a turbo cause turbos use oil for something etc etc).

vtec is oil dependent. If you see a drop in pressure, you should guess that you need to add oil. maintaining good oil pressure is one key to a reliable, healthy motor. Just because its naturally aspirated doesn't mean that there is less reason to monitor it.

i got it in, problem is i need the control box to power it up
.....add it to the list of stuff that i'm either currently buying, bought and waiting for...or just simply waiting for.

i just took out the stock sending unit and replace it with the apexi one. As soon as the control unit comes in i'll be able to get it up and running.

you'll be amazed at the pressure drop under hard cornering, it'll make you wanna buy a baffled pan with the quickness!
Note* that is a quote, i dont know how to correctly quote so could someone please explain to my noob *** how to
Soo SOoo true this is why i bought a pressure gauge. watch the gauge while you do really hard driving for extended periods of time. It lets you make sure you dont destroy your car
