Default No oil in motor!

Wel i guess i musta screw something up. I changed my oil on my ex about 4 months ago, my first oil change. I just changed it again, when i took out the drain plug, only about 1 quart came out. I kno i put in 1 gallon, and i tighted the drain plug tight and the oil filters tight. Nothin was leakin and i never noticed any oil spots on the ground. IDK what happened. Anyways do you think there could be any engine damage? The car ran and sounded fine. I just dont know if i need to do anything?

did you check under by the bolt for drips

theres NO POSSIBLE WAY that it leaked out 3/4 of the oil and you didnt see a spot on your driveway in 4 months.

did you replace the o-ring under the bolt? a used or damaged o-ring could cause a leak. Oil shouldnt burn n e ways...it should just get dirty. oil doesnt just "dissapear" something is fishy??

This may sound a$$ like but, did you lift the car properly? Not trying to be an a$$ or anything. Could be that not all you oil poured out, as if you car was on an angle or something.

It's a crush washer and yes, it's good to replace with each oil change.

Reusing a crusher ring ONCE isn't going to lead to a loss of 3 or 4 quarts.

You said you were missing 3qts of oil. There were no oil spots under your car? Did you check under the car [on the engine somewhere] if there was a leak? If you're missing that much oil... it's on the ground somewhere or your engine burned it and there would be tons of smoke. Just inspect it, fill it back up, then check frequently.

if the crush ring was in fact damaged, or there was no crush ring at all...the oil could slowly leak out over time...or the bolt may not have been tightened all the way, you are supposed to torque it to a certain amount so you dont have it to tight or to loose...therefore causing a 3 qt oil loss. it could slowly be dripping as he drives or something. 3 months is a reasonable amount of time where oil loss could happen.

but i also agree with you. maybe the car wasnt lifted right...but it must have been if hes able to put a gallon in their.

There is just something that is not right.

Car was on flat surface, i used the jack to jack to jack it up and get under it. I tried lowering it back on level ground to get more oil out. Only 1 qt came out. There was never any leaks under the car. I just wana know it you think there can be any motor dammage?

Take it into the dealership or another mechanic and get an engine diagnostic. We can't tell you if there is any damage to the engine, and I'm sure all of us can postulate all day on if there is or isn't.
