Default VX to CX Transmission?

I have a 1992 civic VX and was wondering if swapping out the transmission it has for a CX transmission would be an upgrade or downgrade? Because I was thinking about buying a good CX tranny for 30 bucks. Also i was thinking about putting a different head on my d15z1 like a z6 or a y8 head how much power would that give me and what ecu would i need in order for it to work?

Thanks.

According to Bauley's write up here -->Mini-me into eg, a mini-me will not work on a vx without internal modification.

Not sure about switching transmissions, but I think they both suck for acceleration.

I think the VX, and CX trannies are the same. they are both economy transmissions. so it's a no real big loss on either. get an EX/Si tranny of you want shorter gearing, or even maybe a DX(not sure on these never had a DX)

Thats what i thought it was about the same transmission. it seems like my car has no power in second gear. I agree once you get up to 60 in forth gear at about 3,000 rpm it sure does go pretty fast. looks like im looking to buy a Si/EX tranny then I am also looking for a p28ecu and a z6 head.

Thanks.

back to the mini me thing,a vx with a diy dsm turbo kit&mini me swap would be a perfect compression ratio.so its only to low for someone who is going to go all motor.with the cx/vx trans it would be a little monster on the freeway.
